No Kruze, I brought up that point because you said "It is the case cuz he won't get any higher than 87, which is his value right now." That tells me that you value all 87s the same but then you say in the majority of cases you wouldn't trade a younger 87 for an older 87, why? They're both 87s and have the value of an 87, so why would you want the younger one in most cases? That's because, for me, it depends on the actual player, and not how old they are. Same player, one is 27 and the other is 33, which one do you value more?

That's a player specific question, not a general one. There are 33 yr olds I would value over a 27 yr old, just as there are 27 yr olds I would value over a 33 yr old.

Would you rather Tyler Myers an an 84 overall, 32 year old or as an 84 overall, 26 year old?

Sure, it'd be nice to have more years out of him til retirement, and there might be some growth possibilities out of the 26 yr old, but they're exactly the same. Tyler usually peaks out at about an 87-88, so that's basically just the difference of whether he's top pairing or 2nd pairing. That's not a vast enough jump for me to go "OMG gimme the 26 yr old! 😱" 🙄 lol

The younger one has more value because you'll get more out of him. The same goes for a car, do I want the 2022 Forte or the 2016 Forte for the same price? Yeah, I'll gladly take the newer one cause I'll get much more out of it. At this current day sure, the Myers are the same but long term they are not. 5 seasons from now the 32 year old is now 37 and 81 overall while the 26 year old is now 31 and is still three more seasons away from auto downgrades. Flash forward another three years, the 32 year old is now 40 and most likely retired while the 26 year old just start his auto downgrades. So no, they're not equal. The 26 year old holds more value because I will get more out of them than I will from the 32 year old.

What does bother me is that he's so poorly rated this era. He should be an 86, at least, but that's all part & parcel to him being on a relatively bad team in Vancouver, and the perception in this league that players are useless after a certain age. 🤷
