Training Camp Surprises
Players are reporting to camps, and informal skates have started. Heading into the 26-27’ Season, we’ll take our annual look at some surprises and names to keep an eye on.
Zamaltdinov has had a longer route to the NHL than some, but it appears the wait is over. Assigned to Kazan of the KHL, Zamaltdinov put some pretty decent numbers (17 G 14 A 31 Pts in 50 GPs). He should be ready for an extended look and Kladno looks ready to give it to him.
Sampo Ranta is a late bloomer that has bounced around leagues a bit. Having finally put it together playing for Karpat of the Liiga. Ranta absolutely lit the league on fire scoring 36 Gs in 60 GPs. Ranta will try to provide some depth scoring for a Vancouver team looking to repeat.
and have the won the Euro Lotto!
2nd Round Steals
The 2026 Draft has come and gone. Only time will tell, but most staff and GMs we spoke to were all on the same page, that this was a weaker draft than we’ve seen. Having said that, two late picks look like steals of the draft
Rasmus Gade got very little press, and was almost undrafted. Mr Irrelevant will look to build on this summer and perhaps make decisions tough for a World West squad
Karlis Flugins joins fellow Latvians in Riga, and will look to take a similar path as prospects before him. Look for him to make the World East team this winter
:mch: and have won the 2nd Round Lotto!
