Players are reporting, and Training Camps are almost underway! We’ll take a look at some bright spots to look out for


Marinov

Marinov was a surprise omission on a team SVK needing goaltending a year ago. Fast forward, and Marinov has returned from a season in the Liiga and looks ready for AHL duty. Perhaps he will make Bugnon expendable as soon as next summer as PRG continues to look for depth.



Golubev

QUE rebuild appears to be taking another step forward. Selected 18th OA in 2027, Golubev was sent back to the KHL to refine his game and get ice time last season. A year later, and he might be ready for big NHL minutes. In the market for a 1st line LW, Quebec might have found themselves an internal option if he can gain some chemistry with Reichel/Robin

Karjalahti

Concerns about his skating led to Karjalahti to falling out of the 1st RD and into California’s lap at 36th. A development camp, and 2 months later, and we’re hearing those concerns appear to be overblown. While he probably won’t ever put up the Offensive numbers to be considered Elite, Karjalahti’s hockey smarts, and defensive game will make him a solid option at 3rd , or even perhaps 2nd line C in short order. Expect him to Captain a Finnish team weak at C this Winter if California decides to be patient with Frans



Terglav

You cant hit the lottery if you don’t buy tickets. Quebec has picked a staggering 8 times in the past two seasons. And it looks like they hit again. Terglav, picked as what some people thought was an afterthought. He was the only prospect left at #51 that actually showed up to the draft. It was a feel good story. Well, a couple months later and this afterthought has put himself at the forefront of the coaches thoughts in Quebec. He won’t make the team out of camp, but was hardly the throwaway PR pick we thought at the time.
