Training Camps are open! Let’s take a look at some surprises for this upcoming season





Chibrikov spent last season in the KHL with Metallurg. Taking on a larger role, Chibrikov opened some eyes playing top 6 mins and finishing in the top 10 in Assists for the year. He will look to push for 4th line time or perhaps a larger role with Russia this winter.


Commesso was loaned to the SHL to hone his game. He appears ready to push Campbell for the backup spot this upcoming season. With an eye on being the clubs go to in another year or two. We see Commesso getting the nod once training camp dust settles with Campbell being the odd man out

Vuollet, taken 35th OA by looks to be a gamer. Showing up at training camp and dominating other hopefuls, he’s opened some eyes and will be a possible surprise on the opening night roster. His outlook is looking like he should’ve been a 1st RD Pick


Humphreys is another one that was perhaps passed over due to size issues, and maybe he wasn’t physical enough for 3rd-4th line NHL duty. After Rookie camps, were gonna say maybe these fears were unfounded. A project player, Humphreys will look to catch on with USA this winter. If things stay the course DET could have a steal on their hands in another couple seasons
