I can be unclear sometimes when I write rules, and I don’t always make back to clarify in every space. So I can be quick to assume something wasn’t clear. That’s my bad. But it’s always been allowed, going back to Rockem. Atl asked me about this going back to last trade deadline.
I just honestly never thought there’d be a non deadline type deal like that. I missed the Skjei one for multiple years at Rockem I guess. But it’s really not a big deal. Every trade still goes through the same process. We’ll keep this to expiring contracts here

Still, the fact that Crank's getting an 86 for a $1.650M cap hit, cuz 2 teams are paying for 75% of the player's cap, is complete BS. 🤷
I don't care how old he is or how long his contract is. This is cap circumvention to the Nth degree, and it's total crap.

The only reason I even said anything at all is because it seemed like it was unclear to a couple people, and now that people were aware, do we continue to allow it in the future or limit somehow? It’s been limited to expiring contracts only Its allowed irl, we allow it here. So if that’s what’s got you hung up, let it go. It’s already happened here twice. It happened at Rockem a lot Again, with the admin thing, they have to be allowed to run their teams. Believe me, I’m harder on the admins than anyone else. No one gets favorable treatment, nor should they |

This trade is more like a grey area to me, its something that can be clarified when it comes up. Teams in the real NHL are always going to push the rules for advantages, you're going to get GMs in these sim leagues that also push the rules to a degree to give their team an advantage. Like others have pointed out, laundering players to a 3rd team to pay additional cap happens in the real NHL (i.e SJ laundering Janmark last year for Vegas), the question is how do we apply it to a sim league. There was no rule on how a 3rd team can pay additional cap on a player when this trade was made, so it was in the grey area of how the league interprets it. Well the trade was posted, some GMs object to it, so we can (as the GMs) discuss how we want to enforce or change the rules regarding 3rd team cap payments. Seems to me Whalers has been pretty open with getting different opinions and thoughts on the matter. I think we can all discuss the possible rule changes in a calm and civil matter. Whalers hasn't gone Emperor Palpatine here  |

We can discuss without accusations. The goal here is to come up with a rule to address this type of trade, we can do that civilly. In the end when we have a new rule, it makes the league stronger and clearer, which is what everyone wants. |
